i envision the room of a thousand doors as an enormous circular room inside the sun castle, so big that you can't see the end of it. doors line the walls all the way around, and each door looks different - one is metal and angular, one is made of wood and surrounded by foliage, another is made of water, etc. and each door leads to a different sonic world - some are familiar, some are alien, some past, some present, some future. it's a kind of imaginary spatial hub connecting all possible musical worlds.

my goal is to make more of these rooms over time. i made this one in 2007-2008, with a bunch of my friends, in the woods in california. it describes a forest ritual to conjure the sounds of a future city, in a future where neighborhoods are sound-designed, buildings are interactive, and everybody speaks and communicates relative to the evolving tonal center of their neighborhood.

i'm currently experimenting with a way to put all the pieces of the castle together into a cohesive whole. you can follow my misadventures and hear the latest version at www.futureforever.net/sun_castle
